The hashtag #thankszane was trending on Twitter in anticipation of the well-loved DJ’s final show for Radio 1, which aired March 5. Artists including Arctic Monkeys, Biffy Clyro, The Black Keys, Peace, Chvrches, Foals and The National took to the internet to praise the New Zealand-born DJ.
Last month Zane Lowe let it be known that was leaving his longtime role at BBC Radio 1 for a new position with Apple’s Beats-powered streaming service.
